(Minneapolis, Minn.) The Mirandola Ensemble today announced that Nick Chalmers has been named the new Artistic Director of the ensemble, effective immediately. Chalmers assumes the role previously held by Founder and former Artistic Director Scott Sandersfeld, who stepped aside at year-end 2015 to fulfill duties as an officer-in-training with the United States Army.

Chalmers, who has sung with The Mirandola Ensemble since its founding in 2011, is a prominent director, performer, and choral educator in the Twin Cities. Originally from Hopkins, Minnesota, Chalmers attended St. Olaf College (B.M.) and is currently a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Student in Choral Conducting at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Chalmers also teaches at Chesterton Academy and is Associate Director of Music at the Church of the Holy Family in St. Louis Park. He has sung recently with The Rose Ensemble, the Bach Society of Minnesota, Glorious Revolution Baroque, and Oratory. He and his wife Bethany live in Minneapolis.

In recognition of his ongoing commitment to the organization, former Artistic Director Sandersfeld has been named to the newly created, non-voting role of Director Emeritus on the ensemble’s Board of Directors.

The Mirandola Ensemble, established in 2011, is a Minneapolis-based professional choral ensemble dedicated to promoting the highest standards of choral music, the idea of choral music as ‘high art’ in the Western tradition, and the aesthetics of the Renaissance. The ensemble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization. The ensemble’s studio album “Nymphs and Angels” is now available via iTunes, Amazon, and other music services.  For more information on The Mirandola Ensemble, please visit www.themirandolaensemble.org.
