Press Release – The Mirandola Ensemble announces new German Songs concert for Feb. 9 & 10, 2018

For immediate release on January 26, 2018:

(Minneapolis, Minn.) The Mirandola Ensemble today announced its upcoming concert premiere of “Out of Winter’s Darkness Comes Light: A Midwinter Concert of German Songs”. The program travels from medieval and Renaissance Germany with works by Daser, Senfl, Praetorius and Hassler, to the German Baroque with works by Schein, Schutz, and C.P. Bach; and then concludes with Romantic works (somewhat of a rarity for the Mirandola Ensemble) by Schubert and Brahms, as well as early 20th century composer Hugo Distler’s gorgeous variations on “Es ist ein Ros entsprungen”.

The program will feature Angela Grundstad and Carrie Shaw, sopranos; Nick Chalmers and Roy Heilman, tenors; Andrew Kane, baritone; and Matthew Culloton, bass; plus guest artist and collaborative keyboardist Chris Ganza.

The Mirandola Ensemble, established in 2011, is a Minneapolis-based professional choral ensemble dedicated to promoting the highest standards of choral music, the idea of choral music as ‘high art’ in the Western tradition, and the aesthetics of the Renaissance. The ensemble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization and was recently announced as a 2017-2018 Class Notes Artist for Minnesota Public Radio.
